Many employers are unprepared for next year’s increase in Britain’s minimum wage, according to a government survey.
The new survey conducted for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) asked 1,000 employers across Britain about the new National Living Wage (NLW) that will be introduced on 1 April 2016.
The poll revealed 93% of bosses agreed the change was a good idea but many are worried about how much time they have to adjust to the unexpected change.
According to The Financial Times, more than half of businesses were yet to take key steps to prepare: just 45% had updated payroll to take into account staff aged 25 and over on the date the law passes, 39% were yet to communicate the upcoming changes to staff and 29% had looked online for more information about NLW entitlement.
