Leicester, 23 November 2007 - Office Depot, a leading global provider of office products and services, has won the prestigious Environment Award from the British Office Supplies and Services (BOSS) Industry Awards at a ceremony held at The Royal Lancaster Hotel, London on 25th October. The BOSS Industry Awards recognises and rewards individuals or businesses in the office products industry who can demonstrate real excellence in business. A respected panel of industry experts found that Office Depot led the way in demonstrating their commitment to the environment, including plans and initiatives to improve the environmental performance of both the Company and its customers. Office Depot’s achievements in the area of sustainability fall under a company-wide environmental vision to increasingly buy green, be green and sell green. Contributing to this win was Office Depot’s partnerships with leading UK environmental and commercial bodies. Office Depot has developed a number of tools to help its customers support their own environmental programmes and provide them with a methodology to demonstrate change. Additionally, Office Depot’s sourcing and identification of products that are less environmentally damaging than comparable products, by means of the Company’s own-brand Niceday Range, received special commendation by the panel. “In particular, the judges were struck by Office Depot’s environmental product initiatives, which provide customers with information and support tools to help them make an informed decision about the environmental impact of their purchase,” Angela Mackay, administration manager at the BOSS Federation said. “The Environmental Savings Calculator shows an innovative approach and is supported by a programme of planned improvements which show environmental issues are integral to improved business performance.” “We feel privileged to have received the prestigious BOSS Environment Award,” said John Moore, managing director and vice president for Office Depot UK and Ireland. “Office Depot has continued to enhance our environmental services and increase our assortment of products with environmental attributes.
