On August 29, Office Depot celebrated the official opening of its new facility in Leicester. The 350,000 square foot structure will function as the new head office for the Company’s operations in the UK and Ireland. “This investment is testament to our commitment to our customers and dedication to the Leicestershire area,” said John Moore, Country Manager for Office Depot UK and Ireland. “Creating the right environment is paramount to our success.” For the site’s official opening, members of Office Depot’s senior leadership team participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a tour of the new site. The new location features warehouse and office space, and has the potential to handle almost two-and-a-half times the volume of current business. It was designed to be environmentally friendly, with elements in place to reduce energy and water consumption. For example, a portion of the warehouse roof is covered in translucent glass, with vertical glazing down the sides to help take advantage of natural light. Sophisticated controls were also installed for the lighting system that are light and motion-sensitive. “There is certainly a lot to be proud of,” said John. “A great number of people worked very hard to ensure that each stage of this project went smoothly.
