There is little connection between football and business but the decision by the Liverpool FC board to sell the Premiere League club to the owner of Boston Red Sox illustrates one of the fundamentals of takeovers – bids are decided by the shareholders, not the directors.

Marks & Spencer and the corporate transfer

How appropriate that the terms of Marc Bolland’s recruitment to Marks & Spencer (LON:MKS) were announced on the last day of the football transfer window.  M&S is paying a £7.5m fee to attract him from rival retailer Wm Morrison (LON:MRW).

Rangers and Celtic should be selling the TV rights, not buying

Football finances have always defied logic but the union of Glasgow’s top clubs to outbid Sky for the Scottish Premiership television rights takes madness to new levels. Celtic and Rangers are supposed to receive the rights money, not pay it.
